COUNSELLING SERVICES
Here you’ll find answers to some common questions about how I work, what to expect from counselling sessions, and practical details like cost, confidentiality and booking. If there’s anything else you’d like to ask, feel free to reach out — I’m happy to help.
Yes, research consistently shows that online therapy is just as effective as traditional face-to-face sessions for a wide range of issues, including anxiety and depression. The quality of the relationship between us remains the most important factor in your progress. Many people find that being in their own comfortable, familiar environment actually allows them to open up more quickly and feel more at ease during our sessions.
Once we have booked a time, I will send you a secure link for our video call. You simply click the link at the time of our appointment using your computer, tablet, or smartphone. You don't need to download any complicated software. It is important that you find a quiet, private space where you won't be interrupted, ensuring you feel safe and free to speak openly, just as you would in a physical consulting room.
The most significant benefit is flexibility; you can access professional support from wherever you are, without the stress or cost of a commute. This makes it much easier to fit sessions into a busy work schedule or around family commitments. It also offers a higher level of privacy, as there is no waiting room and no need to travel to a local clinic. For English speakers living abroad, it provides the essential opportunity to work with a therapist who understands your native language and cultural background.
We can discuss this during your free initial consultation, giving us the opportunity to get to know each other with no obligation to continue. I believe a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is essential, so it’s important that you feel comfortable and supported in finding the right counsellor for you.
Afterwards, I can send you a counselling agreement outlining important information such as the counselling process, confidentiality, and how we may work together.
Our sessions are confidential and provide a safe, supportive space for you to talk. I am a member of the ACCPH and work in line with their ethical guidelines. I also receive regular professional supervision and am fully insured. If you’d like any further details, I’m happy to share these with you.
Confidentiality is very important, and I will always aim to respect your privacy. The only exception is if there is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of others, in which case I may need to share information with appropriate services, as required by law. This will always be explained clearly in the counselling agreement.
Payment is made via bank transfer prior to your session. This helps keep things simple and ensures your appointment is fully confirmed in advance.
Yes. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice so we can adjust your appointment without any charge.
Where possible, I will also try to offer an alternative time if you need to change your session with less than 24 hours’ notice, but if this isn’t possible, the full session fee will still apply.
If I ever experience technical difficulties or am unable to attend a session, I will contact you as soon as possible so we can rearrange at a convenient time.
Yes. I provide a counselling agreement at the start of our work, which outlines key information such as how sessions work, confidentiality, and practical arrangements. We will go through this together so you have the opportunity to ask any questions and feel fully informed before we begin.
