Person-centred counselling (client-centred therapy) is a humanistic form of counselling which encourages personal growth, self-autonomy and reaching one's potential.

It is an approach which views all people as inherently good natured with an emphasis on the counsellor being non-judgemental, empathetic, congruent and showing unconditional positive regard (accepting someone as they are).
These are the underlying core principles of person-centred counselling.
Empathy allows an understanding of your true thoughts, feelings and life experiences to feel listened to and validated
A congruent counsellor will be authentic, transparent and sincere, and present themselves as they are, which ultimately helps to foster trust and openness
Unconditional positive regard aligned with a non-judgmental frame of mind makes it easier to feel accepted and to work on self-exploration and personal growth

In order for person-centred counselling to function effectively, we will need to work collaboratively, and I will provide guidance and support as we navigate and explore the issues. Through self-reflection, we can tap into your strengths to promote personal growth and healing. In your initial session we can discuss your reasons for therapy, along with your current situation, goals and expectations. I would encourage you to speak freely.
Person-centred counselling can help with conditions such as depression, anxiety, addictions, low self-esteem and anger management. It can also be helpful when coping with difficult life situations such as bereavement, life transitions for example a break-up, and managing other personal relationships.

I'd love to hear from you
